Stand-up paddle boarding… it’s the scourge of surf breaks everywhere. Like boats with drunken captains they’re a danger to all involved. But… when the water is flat and when you have a yoga instructor handy, well… then you might just have a whole lot of fun!

From Bali it was just a short boat ride to Gili Trawangan – from one island paradise to another. Gili T proudly advertises itself as having no cars, no dogs, no police and no worries; the result is a paradise that can satisfy every hedonistic desire.
It’s just far enough away from Kuta and just close enough to Seminyak. It’s on the West coast of Bali, further North and away from all the mayhem closer to the airport. Getting there is easier nowadays, the roads have been sealed and there’s better signage. The old saying used to be, “Hard to find, impossible to forget.” It’s written in huge letters on the white washed walls of the break-wall at Echo Beach.
The writer’s eternal search for the perfect café…
Coffee: Smooth and rich, but always a little too hot. A latte is $AU3.
Rear-end: Super comfy. Go for the bench seats with the thick cushions down the back for bare-foot cross-legged zen typing.
Wi-Fi: Fast enough.
Seminyak has long been the most cosmopolitan part of Bali and with cafés like Sea Circus popping-up it is proving it has its own style and tastes.
