Film, Friday Hut Road and A Modern Marriage

Friday Hut Road

Shooting with film is so infuriating but so satisfying. The time it takes to finish a roll and to get it developed forces you to be spare with every shot and it ensures you’re frothing by the time you get the prints in you hands. Unfortunately it also means my stories come through a little late.

Friday Hut Road threw their inaugural carpark art jam in November last year and while we’ve all shaken off the hangovers (and probably drowned in a few more since) the frames have been processed and the memories have flooded back with them.

It was all mellow mingling early on with folks chatting politely and talking shit about the fine artworks that hung on the walls. It’s your standard industrial estate studio but as the masses rolled in and the sun sunk away and the bands got started it got grimey and loud and eyes grew wide.

There were circus acrobats outside flinging themselves high in the air and there was body painting and a little later on Prowler started thrashing their instruments and it all turned feral. Frames crashed to floor and groms had their shirts off and there was blood and elbows and sweaty backs and people hitting the deck and people getting picked up with manic smiles.

Damn good party, please please do it again soon!
