To have a good time, like a REALLY good time; you have to ignore time. You can’t be at the mercy of deadlines or watching you watch. There shouldn’t be anywhere you’d rather be than right where you are.
Don’t make plans, they’ll only get in the way. Instead, take one old city, heaps of sunshine and some friends; the good times will find you.
Turn off your phone; and disconnect the wi-fi in your brain, that buzzing distraction that is skipping beyond the smiles in front of you. Kick of your shoes and stare into the sun, take the hand of that girl and run. There’s no end and there’s no goal; there’s no destination because you’re already there.
Drink beer when you are thirsty, wine a little later. Eat some food, it doesn’t matter what it is. You’ll look back on that greasy kebab stain with fondness; you’ll laugh at how soggy those chips were.
Smiling is contagious; don’t be shy.
The sun goes down and the tide goes out; people drift away and others link arms. You end up where you want to be because that’s where your friends are. You’re tired but you’re warm.
The best of times are the best because they’re fleeting. The day ends and you go home.
